The building

Our building at the Castle Street roundabout in Reading

It has been in use for more than 40 years as a place of Christian worship and as a centre for service to the community

Continuing to serve the people of Reading

For 131 years The Salvation Army has been a force for good in and around Reading, Our central Reading building has been by the Castle Street roundabout for more than 40 years. In addition to being a centre for Christian worship it has been the focus for extensive community service. Each year many hundreds of people benefit from the present community programme organised from this building. This is work that we want to continue and to expand. To make this possible we need to carry out urgent repairs to the building and carry out work to bring it up to current health and safety standards. We also want to make the building more welcoming to the hundreds of people that use it each week.

The current estimate for this essential work is £585,000. Our church members have given generously towards this total; special fund raising events have raised more. Donations from the public have also helped. However we still need to raise another £55,000 to reach that total.

If you can help in any way it would be appreciated and you would be helping The Salvation Army to continue to serve the people of Reading.
