Carol Concert
Reading Central band has been an important part of The Salvation Army centre in central Reading. The earliest record of the band′sexistance was in June 1881, just six weeks after the Army
"opened fire" in the town. On that occasion it was at the head of a march taking William Booth, The Army′s founder from the railway station to a rally at the boathouse where we were conducting meetings.
Ever since that time the band has participated in all the Army′s activities. Each Sunday the band leads the congregation in singing and also plays suitable music to help the worship.
